More Adventures...

It has been a while since we posted anything significant. We have good reasons, though. We have been caught up in the world of our never-ending extreme adventures. As we alluded to in our previous post, we had a fun and crazy adventure with the Jensen family on our trip to St. George.

The two of us drove down to Southern Utah a few days after the rest of Eric's family had already made the trip. We met them in St. George and it was quickly decided that we would take the boat to Lake Mead the next day. The family had attempted to spend the day on the lake a couple of days before, but had encountered problems when the boat wouldn't start after they dropped anchor for a lunch break. They had to get towed off the lake by some other friendly boaters. Needless to say, they were none-too-happy about the situation. So, after the boat spent a day in the shop, we all set out early in the morning for the Nevada state line.

The day was beautiful and the water was so warm!! We had a great time driving through the canyons of Lake Mead, which are home to some breath-taking scenery. Everyone was having fun on the knee-boards, wakeboards, and skis. We had lunch on the boat, spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and boarding, and by the time we were ready to head back to the marina, everyone was pretty wiped.

We were in for a surprise, though, when we left the shelter of the canyons and made our way into the main body of water. The wind had picked up significantly, and it was creating some incredible conditions on the water. Three to four foot swells were rocking the boat, and getting us very wet. When one of the swells actually came over the bow of the boat, we knew we had to turn back. We made it back to the canyons and tried to wait out the storm. Unfortunately, the wind never quit, and after a second failed attempt at getting home it was obvious that we would be spending the night on the lake. We anchored down and had more sandwiches for dinner, using the left-over food from lunch. Everyone just tried to find a comfortable place to sleep. The two of us found ourselves on the floor of the boat with life-jackets providing our padding. It was not a very pleasant night! It was hot and windy, and we just waited for the first sign of dawn so that we could get off the lake. Once morning came, we didn't hang around for very long. Luckily the waves had calmed down, and we were able to get the boat out of the water at about 6:30. In hindsight, it was a fun experience. It just didn't seem like it at the time.

After our experience in St. George, we headed to Bear Lake to hang out with the Clegg side of the family. We read a lot, hung out with the family, got some raspberry shakes, and boated on the beautiful blue lake. We both love Bear Lake and had a wonderful time just relaxing there, we wished that we would never have to leave!

Now we are back at home in Logan. It looks like we are done with extreme adventures for awhile, and now we are both busy with work. Eric started his long training for work this week, it is not fun for either of us! He trains for seven and a half hours a day, five days a week. Kylea is working also. We can't believe that school will be starting in just a little over a month! Summer always seems to go by too fast! We wish that it could last a little longer, so we could have some more fun summer adventures... I guess we can look forward to fall adventures!
